Good luck with that. Tidal Taco is a very small operation.
Best tacos around on this side of the island. Place is usually packed so have that in mind before going. If you are looking for something super quick then try a different spot. This place is worth the wait! Great views right on the ocean and the staff are always friendly. We always leave full and with a smile on our face.
Great food. Nice location.
Tacos are excellent.! Fresh tasty and consistent.!! Well worth the wait and they're very popular so it's magical when the wait is shorter .. and it does happen.! Beautiful fast/slow food created while you take time out to gaze at the gorgeous Salish Sea.! Big thumbs up !
Yummy! Best Fish, Shrimp, Chicken Tacos and only $5. Other restaurants charge 3 times the cost and don’t come close to these tacos. Right on the ocean sit at a picnic table or eat in your vehicle or take to go. Fantastically fresh and flavourful.
Totally addictive tacos. Be prepared to wait but it's worth it.
Nice staff and lovely tacos! Will comeback again for sure! The fish taco and chicken taco both very good!
Food was great, service was friendly and pretty fast considering everything is made to order. Worth the small wait time and it was pleasant sitting around admiring the view
Who doesn't love fish tacos, but I can say with confidence that these ones are the best! 11/10 will eat here always!Expect to wait 45min in the summer (Its worth it)
Bland and under seasoned. This is not as good as some who reviewed here say it is. Tacos need way more acid, salt is missing almost completely and spicy sauce is just bland. Oh, and you'll have to wait. Half hour minimum. I wouldn't bother with this place anymore. Sad, it used to be good!
Great burritos and fish tacos and. A great ensure getaway for eating out. High/low tides, seals and whale watching!
Tacos by the seashore. Good tacos, I recommend the fish tacos and the prawn tacos. Great selection of hot sauces ranging from white boy spicy to ring of fire! Be prepared for a long wait. They average around 30 to 45 minute wait. Use the time to sit on the picnic tables and listen to the sounds of the ocean until it gets interrupted by the dulcet screech of your order being called out. Cash only.
Nice spot beside the water. Picnic tables to sit and enjoy tacos at. Giant tacos! Will need to grab a fork for sure! Service was somewhat slow. Friendly staff.
Freshest tacos! Don't miss this place- it's worth the drive. Look out on your right for the garden shed! Pictures show the quality of these bad boys but you gotta taste it to believe it!
The best fish tacos I have ever had! You have to wait a good 30-45 minutes for your order to be ready so be sure to get enough and just bring leftovers home with you if need be. Nothing worse than finishing one of these tacos, realizing that you're still hungry and then having to wait for more! The live music here is great too. Be sure to visit when they have an artist performing
Phenomenal tacos. The Baja fish taco is my favourite, but I also enjoyed the veggie and coconut prawn. Sometimes the wait is quite long. 30-40 minutes when it's busy.
This tiny unassuming "shack" came recommended by someone we met at a Happy Hour Friday event that is a well respected "foodie" as having the VERY best fish tacos on the island. Apparently service can sometimes be slow (we waited 15 min for our order) and parking can be crowded but this only attests to the popularity of the place. Admittedly I haven't had fish tacos all that often and the "best" I've ever had were prepared by my daughter naturally. But the prawn taco I had at the Tidal Taco Shack was easily a rival and was well worth the wait. I highly recommend this place as one of those "dives" that serves excellent food. They are also very celiac aware and have corn tortillas for gluten free customers.
These tacos are WELL worth the wait and the fact that you can eat them down on the beach is a HUGE bonus!! Highly recommend.
Was extremely disappointed with the taco here. I was excited to try it after reading the reviews and was even willing to wait the 45 min for the taco to be made. I ordered the fish taco and the prawn taco. They were both bland and soggy. It needed way more of all flavours. More salt, more acid, more heat. The tortillas tasted and felt like store bought and should have been toasted. The slaw was dry and bitter. The fish was fried well but lacked any seasoning. The prawns were sautéed with butter which was tasty but not fitting for a taco. Even the modest home cook can do better.
Excellent choices, i had a plawn burrito and my daughter had code burrito, both were so delicious. Enjoying the beautiful beaches.
Fantastic view of the bay and Hornby Island, with excellent food, prices and service. Great place to stop while heading up island.
Extremely fresh ingredients went into my chicken burrito and my wife's chicken taco. Burrito was huge and I savoured every dripping spicy bite. Cheryl ordered 2 tacos but managed one. Lunch tomorrow. All flavours were just so good!!
Amazing fresh ingredients, friendly service, very reasonably price. A must stop if you are taking the old island hwy!
This is an amazing little road side gem! Small little shack on the beach serving up amazing sea food, chicken, and beef tacos or burritos. Locally sourced ingredients and people who are passionate about what they do make this place a worthy stop or destination down the scenic old island highway! Bring cash! Thank me later! Expect a 20-30 minute wait! Water tap around the left side to clean your hands!
Good size & tasty burritos ‘n tacos. Freshly made by hard working duo. Anticipate a 30min minimum wait, as it is a small shack...you’re on island time...be sure to bring cash & there are no washrooms
Would be 5 stars but usually quite the wait.
Great food, but they don't buy enough food so they can stay open longer !!!!!!!
Meh... stopped in for a quick bite. Service was friendly enough and prompt for being 1 person. The tacos were way overfilled, which is fine if that's the way you like to make tacos. It made it very awkward and frustrating to eat. They were more like an open face burrito than a taco. They were served wrapped neatly in tinfoil. I learned quickly not to take them out of the tinfoil. I literally ate them rolled up in tinfoil much like a burrito and it was a mildly flavored frustrating mess. The flavors were very mild. I would have liked more seasoning and less toppings. The portions were generous, a bit too generous to be honest. Lots of people seem to like this place and it's great they have a local following. It just wasn't my taste so I won't be back. I'm a taco lover and these just didn't do it for me.
Rustic little shack with super tasting tacos and burritos. Reasonably priced. Usually a long wait time. Anywhere from 1/2 to 3/4 of an hour's wait so you know everything is prepared fresh. If you order the burritos be careful of the leaks in the packaging. Lots of tasty sauces. Don't want to smell like a burrito for the rest of the day.
Not a real taco from the Taco Nazis. Advise a research trip to Cabo San Lucas for the owners. Super slow. 1.5 hours for a lousy lettuce and sour cream heavy piece of gloop is an insult to taco artistry.
This is the Island food experience. You've gotta eat here!!!
Amazing burrito. Super good. Only thing was that it took quite a while. Was a bit busy, so sometimes you have to wait for quality food!
NO DELAY ON A SUNNY MON...REQUESTED & TRIED THE BAJA STYLE PANKO COD AND THE CHILI COCONUT PRAWN BURRITO'S JUST AFTER THIS SHACK OPENED FOR THE DAY & NO REGRETS! FILLING, FRESH, GREAT OCEAN VIEW & DELICIOUS AS ADVERTISED, PLUS TOO HANDY NEAR LOCAL TAI CHI CLASS...WORTH THE DRIVE FROM VICTORIA...TO THE STAFF: KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
Best fish tacos 🌮 in Canada 🇨🇦
Best tacos on the East coast!
Tasty tacos beautiful waterfront location cash only
Tidal taco shack had to be one of the best hidden gems on the central part of Vancouver Island. The fresh battered fish in Mexican style tacos and burritos are to die for. This shack is small - I'm talking the size of a closet, yet they crank out the best food around. Expect a long wait on the weekends, but rest assured it's worth the wait!
Expect a wait but totally worth it. The cod fish tacos are not battered but panko'd! Look at the super view as it is directly on the water. A destination experience.
What a place to go to for great tacos and Burritos. The prawn tacos were excellently made by Emma and Cierra. The experience when they took my order made the amazing view of the ocean so much more pleasant, good vibes good times. I’ll always be happy to bring friends and family to this place. Great jobs guys, till next time.
It's one of those little, rundown roadside takeout food places - you'd never guess that it has what many consider the best Mexican cuisine on the island. Everything on the menu is fresh, delicious, spiced to perfection (just that wee amount of heat that doesn't overpower the flavours). Plus when you are finished, what remains is a delicious after taste that is a combo of the heat & superb flavours. Extremely popular eatery, people travel from all over Vancouver Island to eat at this tiny beach hut. So... most day's you are likely to find long que of vehicles parked on both sides of the highway, as people hang around waiting for their orders. You might even have to wait for a hour (more or less) for your food, but when you get it, you'll be glad you did.
Tiny unassuming building on the side of the old highway. It's easy to miss if you don't know what you're looking for. They sell a few types of tacos and burritos and if they sell out they are done for the day. The fish tacos (what I had) were sold out early today. It's popular and you have to wait for them to make your food fresh and it's worth it. Don't go if you are in a hurry.
Shrimp taco was quite good, generous portions, beef taco was lacking in flavour. We were told it would be a 45 minute wait for 4 tacos, it took almost 90 minutes with no real apology. Very clear that they are lacking in speed, efficiency, or any sort of prep/systems to accommodate more than 2 customers at a time. Make sure you have lots of time to spend if you want to eat here.
The food and service are excellent. The prices are reasonable. And there's a good selection of hot sauces to choose from.
Do believe the hype. And be prepared to wait.
Really good food. Vegan options also available.
My shrimp taco was great! Good service.
This food is unbelievable quality. Excellent variety. Anticipate a wait for your food preparation - it's worth it. Benches properly put aside for covid, you can stroll on the beach while you wait. I had the prawn taco and wow. That sauce. My friend had a beef burrito. I've been here several times and never been let down. Highly recommend.
Well worth the wait for any item off the menu at this "must visit" eatery! I will admit that my wife and I visited and left 3 times due to the wait time (up to 45mins when busy) before FINALLY tasting the amazing fare ... sssoooò good! AND, you cannot beat the view!! So, my suggestion is to plan ahead - stop and order your meal(s) and then go walk the Lighthouse Trail for a bit ... back just in time.
The best taco I've eaten in a long time. Friendly fun service.
There is a 30-45 min wait as the place is always packed. But every second is worth it. Taco is well cooked, the fish is perfectly cooked, chicken is well seasoned and pulled. Overall great good
Unreal fish tacos but you gotta go earlier to get some
